I am super grateful and so excited to help bring Girls Who Code to in RVA!

After programming for 5 years with FIRST ®, I began participating in Girls Who Code clubs, where I have learned some important programming languages. This has stoked my love of programming and created an opportunity for me to give back to my community. In April, of 2017 I was selected by Girls Who Code to travel to Atlanta, GA for a coding immersion program with 19 other girls at G.E (General Electric).  Since the closest Girls Who Code club was over an hour away, I saw a strong need for Girls Who Code in Central Virginia

After the immersion program, Angela Patton, the CEO of Girls For A Change and founder of CAMP DIVA gave me the opportunity as a Girl Ambassador to facilitate coding workshops for young girls of color.

We just had our first information session for Girls Who Code RVA, which went great! I am looking forward to working with Sister Brooke, Sister Angela and Sister Teresa on this great program.
